The preliminary site preparation work was completed in June, and now construction of utilities and general earthwork is underway at Laguna Caribe. We have a lot of earth fill to bring in over the next several months in order to provide the required finished elevations for roads, RV pads, and building pads. Utilities installation began this week with the sanitary sewer lift station, then installation of the gravity sewer lines leading “upstream” from the lift station.

New construction has proved to be very challenging this year, with the economy picking up steam and pent-up consumer demand driving new construction starts and shortages of equipment, manpower, and materials, thus leading to longer construction schedules. The past year and a half of course has been a huge challenge for everyone everywhere due to the effects – both public health and economic – of the COVID pandemic. But we are moving ahead nevertheless.

In order to provide for the earliest opening of Laguna Caribe, L26 Development is phasing the construction, with the amenity parcels being completed first along with the first 76 RV lots located generally in the northern half of the property, with all supporting grading, drainage, utilities, and roads sufficient to obtain a Lee County Certificate of Occupancy for Phase 1. Phase 1 will also include most of our amenities, including the resort pool and pool area features, bathhouse, Tiki Bar, bocce courts, putting green, pickleball courts, trailer parking, and dog park.  Construction will then immediately roll into Phase 2 which will consist of the final 61 lots in the southern half of the property, and the main clubhouse building.

As we get a little closer to completion of Phase 1 we’ll be able to provided updated information on our projected opening date, with our intent being to get both phases of finished lots and most amenities completed and CO’d by the first quarter of 2022.
